5) What are the minimum qualifications of your nursing candidates?

All of our candidates have a B.Sc. or Diploma in Nursing, a current nursing license from their home country, 1 year of acute care experience and fluency in English.

................................................................................................................................

6) How can I be certain that the candidate's credentials are real?

The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) was established in the late 1960's with a commitment to protect the public by ensuring that nurses educated in countries other than the United States are eligible and qualified to meet licensure and other practice requirements in the U.S. When a candidate has completed the CGFNS Certification program, you can be certain that their credentials are valid, their education is equivalent to a nursing education in the U.S. and that their chances of passing the NCLEX exam are substantially increased.

In addition, each state board of nursing conducts an independent review of the candidate's education and license to make sure the candidate meets the minimum requirements to practice in that state.

7) Which work visas are available for foreign nurses seeking employment in America?

A foreign nurse can come and work in America permanently with a "Green Card" or temporarily with an H-1B visa. Indian nurses holding Canadian citizenship may qualify for a Trade NAFTA (TN) visa.

................................................................................................................................

8) What are the differences between H-1B visas, TN Visas and Green Cards?

H-1B Visa

The H-1B Visa is a temporary work visa for professionals holding a Bachelor's Degree. H-1B visas can be processed in a month and are valid for up to 6 years.

Registered Nurses usually aren't considered professionals for purposes of obtaining an H-1B since most hospitals routinely hire staff nurses who lack a Bachelor Degree in Nursing. However, if an employer can establish that a particular RN position requires a four-year degree, an H-1B may be approved.

TN Visa

The TN visa is a temporary visa that allows RNs with Canadian citizenship to work in the U.S. for a period of one year. TN Status can be acquired in less than a week and may be renewed annually.

Green Card

The Green Card enables a person to live and work in the U.S. permanently. Once a healthcare facility sponsors a nurse for a green card, he or she can arrive in the U.S. and start working in 8-12 months. Most Indian nurses qualify for Green Cards.

9) How long will it take for Project Medic International's nurses to arrive in America and start working?

We present nurses to our clients only after they have received certification from CGFNS and have passed their English language exams. Our nursing candidates are ready for Green Card sponsorship as soon as they're hired. They can arrive and start working at your facility in 8-12 months.

................................................................................................................................

10) Who will handle the immigration paperwork?

At Project Medic International, we have teamed up with some of the best immigration attorneys in the U.S. with expertise in healthcare immigration. They handle all the paperwork with the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (CIS).

Once the application is approved by BCIS, the final visa processing will begin at the U.S. Consulate or Embassy in India. Project Medic International's attorneys will guide the nurse and the nurse's family members throughout the consular process.

Knowing which forms to use, what information to supply, what supporting documents to attach, where to file the documents and what to do if there is a request for additional evidence are all critical to the process. These steps can be a nightmare for someone who is not familiar with U.S. immigration laws and procedures.

Having immigration attorneys handle these procedures will decrease your burden substantially, leaving you free to address your facility's current staffing needs.

...........................................................................................................................

11) How many nurses should we hire based on the fact that it will take 8-12 months for the nurses to arrive and start working?

Look at your current and historical FTE's (specialties & shifts) and place an order for 25% to 30% of this need with international nurses. It is also important to consider areas where retirements are imminent and to plan ahead for new clinical programs.

................................................................................................................................

12) What if the Nurse seeks employment elsewhere after arrival?

As long as you provide full-time employment and pay the prevailing wage, the nurse is obligated to work for your facility for the stated term of employment. Our hospital clients typically require the nurse to sign a two year employment agreement in exchange for assistance with various immigration, licensure and travel costs.

................................................................................................................................

13) How much will an Project Medic International nurse cost our facility?

The typical payback period for bringing in a Project Medic International nurse is less than 4 months when you compare with a travel nurse or a registry nurse. Please click here to contact us so that we can give you both the pricing options and your saving potential!
